    Great explanation and I really thank you for your time. I got a question: what happened if I just install an expasion tank instead of a overflow tank (radiator has already its cap) would it work as "overflow"? The issue is that I am rebuilding an old truck which has no overflow tank at all (there is just a hose from radiator to space) so I have to keep checking for the coolant level as it drops it when heats up, because of the place where the overflow tank supposedly fits it is kind of weird that only found an expansion tank that would fit in place .. let me know what do you think would ya? Thanks in advanced man. Atte MC.

      Right but most OE manufacturers have at least 2 types of parts. In simple terms they have the good enough type of part and then they have the high quality OE part. The OE part 99% of the time is always better in my experience as a diesel mechanic

    • @CarsSimplified
      @CarsSimplified 10 дней назад

      I've read that in multiple places as I have been doing research for two bigger projects, and it's part of why I ordered the Denso filter. I feel pretty confident that Denso is indeed involved in the production of both filters, but the First Time Fit line is Denso's aftermarket product line. With the two filters featured in the video, the Denso First Time Fit 150-3020 is produced in China and appears to seal the core ends with a plastic material, while the Toyota 04152-YZZA5 is made in Thailand and has more of a clear glue substance on the core ends.

      @@brianlelis5105 I 100% agree. Most aftermarket consumables parts from reputable brands will perform just as well. I will say though in the last 3-4 years aftermarket parts in general have gone down in quality control. Especially during peak covid. And to be fair OEM parts were having quality control issues too, but not to the same degree. I can’t tell you how many comeback repairs our shop had to do due to premature failure of parts or in some cases the parts would be defective right out of the box. I had multiple issues personally on repairs on my daily car and don’t even get me started on the issues with parts on my clapped out Ducati. If the part was manufactured between 2020-2022 it’s a 50/50 shot on it being good or not

    I get abs fault on startup occasionally. My mechanic blamed it on the throttle body but a new throttle body did not solve it. My gage cluster was draining the battery, I had it sent to Australia to get rebuilt. I did not get abs fault while an eBay gage cluster was installed but now that the original gage cluster is installed again, abs fault happens occasionally once again. Not positive it has anything to do with the gage cluster might just be a coincidence

    i have a question......can piston tops be designed in such a way alone that it can fall in the non interference motor...with.........an existing interference motor? since its man made and we have the technology for cutting drilling grinding........why or cant we "experiment'?

    • @CarsSimplified
      @CarsSimplified 15 дней назад

      The piston tops are a key component in that, and when the rest of the design is close enough, that can be done! On a lot of interference engines, the piston would have to be significantly altered (more so than grinding would allow) which would also affect the compression ratio in a way that hinders power. If interference is the main limitation when it comes to redline RPM, some of that power loss could be made up for, but at that point you're going to have to build the whole engine with that in mind. It's not something that is done often, but it can be done!

      @@CarsSimplified ok lets take an example.......lets say....a standard 1.3 2e engine carb......does the head cylinder needs to change completely for the piston tops if the piston tops were to change to non interference?

    • @CarsSimplified
      @CarsSimplified 14 дней назад

      Between changing the piston shape and using a different cam or rocker arm design, I imagine there are a decent amount of engines that could be altered in that way, but those parts may have to be custom made. Sometimes in hot rodding parts from other engines are discovered to work on an engine someone desires to upgrade, so there may be cases of that available for this hypothetical non-interference conversion, but finding parts like that would take some serious research. For all that, you would have to take the cylinder head off, but barring some unforeseen engine-specific issue, the cylinder head could remain unmodified. There are also cylinder head spacers that could help, but I haven't ever looked into those, and I would assume they would have limitations with various engine designs. Overall, a conversion is hypothetically possible, but the research, work, and costs involved are probably why there is so little information online about how to do it. I like your idea, don't get me wrong! If I had the budget for multiple project cars, I would be tempted to find an interference engine car I could attempt this with.

    We have this MESS on our hands because Benjamin Franklin arbitrarily, (or, not), stated in his paper on electricity research that electrons flow from positive to negative, and, since he was the grand master mason of them all, everyone accepted this as the ultimate truth. However, when later, more advanced experiments showed that electrons, actually, move exactly the opposite way in real life, the "grateful sons of the grand master" could not make his good name be "tarnished" like that - 'cause, "the grand master never makes mistakes" - and, pulled this "duality", we now know as the "Conventional Current Flow", and "Electron Flow" out of their asses, and now, every student who studies Physics, Chemistry, etc..., should go through this pain, and learn both "theories", just because somebody didn't want to offend the memory of some guy, and his scientific blunder. ... Yep, it is THIS idiotic!

    I bought myself a replacement EGR valve on Amazon for less than USD$50 and will be replacing the stock one in my 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan with just shy of 200,000 miles. I figured, eh, what's the point in trying to clean it when it's only $50 for a brand spankin' new one, and the one that's in there now is over 16 years old. If it was only 6 years old, I'd just clean it, but that's not the case. Going to be installing it tomorrow. :) Also cleaned the throttle body and MAF sensor for the very first time and it's looking brand new as well.

    • @CarsSimplified

      I would hang on to the old one for a while just in case, but if it's a decent one you bought, having it not just clean but all fresh parts is a nice way to go! EGR valves are put through real demanding work with all those heat cycles and the carbon/soot build-up.

    There's nothing more expensive than a bargain oil filter. Walmart sells some OEMs finally. But you simply cannot trust ANYTHING you buy online unless it comes from a very reputable source. OEM from the dealership is well worth the money. I do not purchase any filters from eBay or Amazon after too many questionable products arriving. The lack of a proper anti drainback valve on those inverted filters have killed many a Subaru engine.
